Summer is on its death bed these days, and the weather has started to make a turn towards the colder side. That isn’t to say that it isn’t still hot out, but time is running out, and you’ll want to milk the summer for every day outside as you can. What better way to get yourself outside than to organize a family picnic just in time for Labor Day weekend? Accurate Auto Body, a Denver Auto Body Shop, is here to give you some great tips to making your next family picnic a memorable one:

- Decide on a nice, secluded place. While picnics at a local neighborhood park can be fun, it tends to come with the territory of being around a crowd of people also doing the same. While there isn’t necessarily anything wrong with that, it can distract your family from focusing on each other during the occasion. Colorado is full of wonderful places to host a picnic, and some of them are only reachable by hiking which can possibly add to the appeal. Jump on to Google Maps, roll around the state and find a good park, nature reserve, or even spot on the side of the road that would be perfect for your picnic. Bonus if that spot supports grills.

- Diversify your picnic basket. While having sandwiches is generally considered a staple of a picnic, you want this family event to be unique. Go a little crazy and get some cold pasta in there, maybe a salad, and add an assortment of fruit- anything to spice up your meal outside. You can even spice up the picnic basket itself. Instead of resorting to a plastic bag, invest in a traditional picnic basket, or something a little more modern.

- Plan to play some games. Playing games with the family can be a great bonding experience. Naturally, there are certain games you wouldn’t necessarily want to play outdoors, but there are just as many games that are perfect outside. Pencil and paper games make very little mess, and allow for considerable creativity to boot. Some of our favorites include charades, salad bowl, I spy, and 20 questions. If the picnic group is big enough, you could even engage in some sports, like a round of football or soccer; maybe even Red Rover for the kids.

- Take pictures. As the old adage goes, pictures are worth a thousand words, and you’ll want to cherish the times you have with your family. If you follow our above instructions, you will wonder why you didn’t plan more of these this past summer. Designate someone as the head photographer, and have them photograph away!
