Fortunately, there are methods to mitigating the risks. The effects of cold weather can be reversed if you just dress warm enough for the conditions. Keeping your core warm should be your priority, followed by your extremities. If for any reason you are running and feeling like your core has gotten too cold, it’s time to go home. If it’s particularly windy, then its best to wear protective gear like a scarf or goggles to protect your face from blistery winds. Ultimately though, by dressing warm you can lower the risks associated with running outside in cold weather, while still enjoying the benefits of running outside when you can.
