1- The Mystery Machine – At some point, you’ve watched Scooby-Doo, and the rag-tag team of young detective always drive their famed 1963 Famed Econoline Custom Van, more popularly known as the Mystery Machine. The Mystery Machine became a movie icon ever since it’s debut in the 1960’s and has remained an icon in the public’s minds to this vary day. It’s hard to find many cars that have survived several generations like the Mystery Machine has. 2- Herbie – Who could forget number 52 itself, Herbie has captured the hearts of America ever since her debut in Disney’s The Love Bug in 1968. The original Herbie was a 1963 Volkswagon Beetle and the production team has made an effort to keep the little guy going through a total of six movies from 1968 to 2005. The feisty product of German engineering has become almost as timeless as the mystery machine itself, and remains a staple of Hollywood’s earlier days.
3- The General Lee – In the 1980’s, American muscle cars reigned supreme, and no muscle car gained as much notoriety like this 1969 Dodge Charger. Originally making her debut in the Dukes of Hazzard, the General Lee found itself involved in all sorts of mischief with cousins Bo and Luke in the deep south. Although the General Lee only appeared in one feature film and television series, it has remained a cinema icon to this vary day. You can find the General Lee in many parts of the South, including Branson, Missouri, off of Highway 76.
4- The DeLorean Time Machine – “Great Scott!” There is simply no way we could compile a list without the famous 1982 DeLorean DMC-12 that literally stands the tests of time. The car was retrofitted into a time machine by Doctor Emmett “Doc” Brown, and allowed the good doctor and his associate Marty Mcfly to travel across time in three feature length movies from 1985 to 1990. The films were so popular that they generated an entire armada of games, books and television series. The car is even featured as an attraction at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, as a testament to its resilience in the starlight.
5- The Lamborghini Tank – It would be unfair to ignore some of the more modern contributiosn to the vehicular hall of fame. The 2005 customized “Laborghini Tank”, more popularly known as the Batmobile in Christopher Nolan’s Batman franchise, has certainly earned its spot on this list. The re-envisioned Batmobile turned heads across the world with its militarized but perhaps more realistic design. As the Dark Knight’s most trusted stead, the Batmobile saw battle against some of the worst scum of Gothic city, from Scarecrow to the infamous Joker, the Batmobile was always there to do battle. With all its eye-popping perks and stunts, the modern take on the Batmobile has become one of the more modern additions to an exclusive list of vehicles.
